A week of nothing AND THEN something....

I couldn't figure out what to write on my blog (of glory) this week. So I said to Hilary, "What shall I write on my blog." And she replied, "Don't ask me, I haven't written on my blog in years." Pause in the conversation while we both pondered. "I will write on my blog when I am debt free. And that it what I shall write: I am debt free." Thank you Hilary, here is my blog post:

I am debt free! But, then again, I have always been debt free. So, that's nothing new. Today is Friday. It is my third day in a row of not having to work. My friend Josh says I have to call that a super sunday. But it's not sunday, it's friday....so I'm not calling it that. It's a friday, and I have no work, and life is grand.

Blah blah blah. I wrote that last Friday. Now it is Thursday....so really I am on top of things. That was boring anyways, you've all heard it before. This is NOT SO boring. I went to another concert! This one was one of my favorite concerts yet. First of all, I went with my love: Cassie. Secondly I saw a band that I love: Ghostland Observatory. Thirdly: read this shindig.....

Cass and I drove up to SLC super early, to ensure being able to be close to the band. When we got there, we sat in the shade for awhile, and then headed into the not so impressive crowed. We were probably like 6-7 people back from the stage. We bounced around through the first band - Phantogram. They were pretty great, and we were standing next to a pretty chill group of people who respected our space and we respected theirs. People were still relatively sober, and the crowd was still relatively small. BUT seeing as it was a free concert, in SLC, it became the place where the drunk, sober, high, homeless, young, employed, old, rich, and poor all came together. It was one hot mess. The first band ended, and we began to be pushed and shoved and touched as people tried to work their way past us to the stage. It wasn't that fun, but no complaints -- because then Ghostland came on. HOLY EVERYTHING I COULD HAVE EVER IMAGINED. It was one giant dance party. By this point the entire park was full, and EVERYONE was dancing. We were still pretty close to the stage, and so things were insane. We were just boxed in touching other people on all sides. The guy next to me kept putting his hand on the top of my head (he was pretty tall) and yelling, "come on girl, dance!" Uhhh, I am dancing! Please stop touching my head! Please oh please! And the guy behind me kept using my shoulders to help boost himself higher while he jumped. And the guy next to us tried to crowd surf, tried being the key word. And I swear the other kids behind us were about ten years old. And the other two guys kind of infront of us kept making butterflies with their hands, and watching them above their heads while they exclaimed, "This music is so good. It's like a mix between Enya and Coldplay." "Yeah, Enya and Coldplay." "Yeah, Enya. OOOH AND HIPHOP!" "Oh yeah! Like hiphop, Enya, and Coldplay -- all together" And then don't even get me started on the girl right behind Cassie. She was just out of control all around. We couldn't see a thing on the stage, because they didn't have any stage lights. Instead the band puts on an epic laser light show, complete with strobe lights. So, they would start a song, we would dance around, and then they would turn the strobe lights on and people would go crazy. It was so much fun!!! We were all just dancing our hearts out. Everyone was a sweaty mess. There was no personal space. But no one even cared. We were UNITED as a crowd. Ugh, heaven. Cassie and I LOVED it. We then realized we lost our keys, so we pushed our way out of the crowd to try and look for them where we had been sitting - psh yeah right. We watched the rest of the show from the back of the crowd, and that was fun too because there were some boundaries, and I could actually see a little of what was happening on stage - the singer Aaron Behrens dances like no bodies business. It was so fun to watch him dance around that stage. He must LOVE his life! Such power over so many people, and such joy. I mean we ALL were just loving it, and uniting with our neighbors, although we were all complete strangers. The guy right in front of me at that point kept just turning around and screaming at me, out of pure joy, I would scream right back, we would dance together for a minute, and then he would turn back around. He was cracking me up. Neither of us could dance though, so I think we were a pretty good pair.

ANYWAYS. Concert ended. The crowds left the park. We searched and searched for the keys, then ended up calling in backup to come retrieve us. Then a WONDERFUL security guard found the keys, and we headed home. I am sick. I am covered in beer. I smell horrible. And I am dead tired. But man, that was one fantastic night. Ghostland Observatory, you are my idols. Don't stop. Keep making me dance.

Work in the AM. As usual if you're in the Orem area come and visit me. Next week: Lupe Fiasco. Ah, to be young.

Mmmmm, covered in beer, delish. You would have killed me if I had touched your head like that! I'm glad you found your keys, that would have been so sad. And who even knew they did free concerts with good bands? It's mostly patriotic and/or military stuff out here.

Sounds like a super fun time. Except the beer part, of course. I can't stand that smell! I love how you're always doing something cool.
