Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers... extended!!

Good Evening! Our family decided to sit down this here night and watch some Lord of the Rings. You have to understand, for those of you who don't know our family, Lord of the Rings... well it's the best. The best ever, out of anything, it tops it all. If you don't like Lord of the Rings then you probably wouldn't like my family, and that's just how it is. This is a picture of my family about 45 minutes in. Sam Wise (yes, we love Lord of the Rings just that much) in the foreground had a rough day playing out front with the neighbor's Lab, Bronco. They run and run and play and frolic and bite each other and things are just grand. So, Sam Wise has been asleep for about 5 hours straight now. Dave made it probably 15 minutes into the movie, he's recovering from pneumonia, so we'll excuse him.

Grace is asleep foot to foot with Dave as to share the good blanket. And then Rachel, for some bizarre reason is in fact asleep on top of the desk behind the couch... she always sits back there to draw while we watch TV, and somehow she's ended up crawling onto it for a quick snooze. :) Needless to say, as I write this they're coming back from the dead, and we may all be awake for the last hour or so.

Well, some of you might have seen my facebook status about a week and a half back, "Jen is embarking on Craft week!" I was making a quilt for one of my good friends Melissa. I used to work with her at the UPS store for a year about 2 years back. She lives in Boise now, but came back down to have a baby shower at her parents house today in American Fork. I sewed her a baby quilt... don't look at me... it's a really bad picture... stupid hair cut... but I love how the quilt turned out!! I'm glad I could be here to see her all pregnant and cute. I'll post a picture we took of the 3 girls who worked at the UPS store together for that year. I have to get it from my friend in order to post it. But it'll be here soon enough.

Well, this brings us to PET OF THE WEEK!

Sam-Wise!!
Here's Sam, just a few minutes ago, he's asleep just below where I'm sitting on the couch. He's so tuckered out. He loves to snuggle. You stand behind him, and he backs up and sits down right on your feet, leans into you, and just relaxes as you pet and pet and pet. He knows all our names, "Sam, where's Rachel?" and he goes running to her. He now gets the paper too, woop woop. And his favorite trick is to roll over, he gets so excited when he gets it right. He looooves Montana, because he gets to play in the lake all the day long. He's a good boy. And I love my Sam-Wise.

This concludes pet of the week. Although I consider myself having 3 other cats and 2 other dogs, I am currently not living with them, so I will refrain from pulling out dull pictures of the past and making you all read about how cute they are... I know you're not all as pet crazed as I. Which means my next post will feature a new segment. That is my next Saterday/Sunday post, it's a once weekly segment. I'll have to come up with another for my Tuesday/Wednesday post.

All right, well, I hope you've all had good weeks. Mine was quite eventful... hair cut and quilt and all. :) Although the hair cut leaves me in a perma bad mood. BUT HEY! I'm coming to visit Seattle in 18 days!!! I'm sooo excited. I want to see all of you, and you're getting massive amounts of hugs. I don't know why, I just really want to hug you all, a lot. :)

Hair Cut!

Hey there campers. I got my hair cut today by my most favorite hair cutter, Ramez. Sadly... I failed to say I didn't want the top layers too short... but you all can judge for yourselves. :)

Before!!

After yo!!

weeeelll, the after pictures weren't that great. So BALETED! :)

Well, there you have it. Enjoy! Until Saturday, adios pardners.

Sun!!

Hello, hello, hi, how are ya, hey there, howdy, and yodeleheehoo. What's the happi-happs yo? Well, now the the cordial hellos are out the way, let's get down to business... which reminds me of a song... and I will now sing it.... "Let's get down to business, to defeat, the huns, hu. Did they send me daughters, when I asked for sons? They're the saddest bunch I ever met, and you can bet before we're through. Mister, I'll make a maaaaan outta you!!" Whew. That was a good one! I was just gonna put a line, but then I just got into it... and well away we went. Ok, ok. Let's bring it down, bring it in, and focus. It's been one week since my last post... and now I will sum up that week. MMM, hmm.

Math test #2:
As math gets harder and harder, i.e. rounding decimals and estimation, the second test which I took nearly killed me. And although the first test took a mere 10 minutes, the second took me nearly a half an hour. Yes, a half an hour. So, when I got the test back the next day, I'm pleased to announce, I got yet another 100%!! What what! Math freaking genius, right here yo!

Well, every so often one of my good friends in Seattle send me the "I Saw U's" it's part of a newspaper printed in Seattle, where people post small brief ads about seeing someone either every day or once in awhile, or even just once, and thinking they were cute, or wanting to ask them out, or something along those lines. Make sense? I hope it does. Anyways, every week while I was living in Seattle I would get The Stranger, and check the I saw U's and see if any of my friends or myself was in it. We never were. Topher just sent me a paper. It was the Valentine's paper, and so instead of the I Saw U's it was a whole slew of Valentine's. Well, here's one,it's not really for me... but it totally could be, so I wanted to just put it up here... just so you all could see that it really could be for me... but it's not. Oh well, mostly I'm just struggling for pictures this week!

The other day I was standing in our downstairs rec room pondering life... dunno why... just was. And I realized that our downstairs rec room is bigger than my whole apartment in Seattle. It's about the same length but a little wider. Then I just started missing my Apartment, and Charlie and Autumn and Double B and Brenton and Jinar and any one else who's lived with us up there... and now whenever I walk through that room, which is often because it leads back to my bedroom, and I get kinda sad, because I miss my Seattle family! But, don't get me wrong, just because I miss you guys doesn't mean that I'm not happy here, I love it here... and I'm glad I'm back in the big UT.

Which brings us to our last segment: Pet of the week!

This is Sterling. He's cute. He likes to sleep under the blanket with you. He also like to sit by the fridge and beg for food. He's super cute, but super snotty, he's always congested. Who knows why. And when he mews, it sounds like he's dying, but he's not... he's just a whiner... kinda like someone else I kn-- oh wait, that's me. Since I will now be doing two blogs a week, we'll end it here. Love you all.

PS oh and it's SUN!! Because for the first time in forever it was sunshiny. And I was happy inside because the evil snow was not trying to kill me! Yay for the sun!

Val's Day!

My room!!

I decided that since none of you can see how I fit all of my things into one room, I'd put up 360 degrees in pictures. And now you can see how talented I am at organizing... sorry it's still a little messy, I've been cleaning, but I still have a pile of clothes the size of texas looking for a home in the dresser. I'm sure they'll get there soon enough... ish.

Well, as you all, I am sure, are aware, today is February 14th, which makes it Valentine's Day. I call it Val's day. I think if I had known this Valentine character he would have been on good enough terms with me that I would have called him Val... and so we shall make it Val's day. We would have been good friends, what can I say? Maybe I should look up Valentine, and see just what we're dealing with anyways. I've never really known. I know he's like a saint or something along those lines, but really who isn't in their own way... we are all saints, each and every one of us. So, in honor of Valentine's day I looked high and low through my closet in an attempt to find something red or pink to wear. I have one hot pink tank top, and that's really all I could find. But I looked harder and came up with a dress with red and blue prints across it, I figure that's good enough to keep Val satisfied. I mean really, how can you not love Valentine's day? It's a day of celebrating love! Not just your significant other love either, love love. As in I love a lot of people and today I get to think all day long about how freaking awesome love is... and then I'm super happy! And the world's in a good place. Me, in my Val dress, as seen below (not a lot of the dress, sorry, mostly I wanted to show off the fact that I finally got my hair into a side pony, and it's actually cute, so for all those who I complained to day after day about not being able to do it, thanks to lack of funds my hair's now long enough, and it's fantastic!):

I feel like the only thing that could make this day better, well besides my having a boyfriend and therefore something to do tonight, is if it were sunny outside.... and not a dad blammed blizzard. Want to see the blizzard? Here are a few pictures of that, sorry they're not great, I didn't want to actually HAVE to go outside, so I just stood in the doorway and leaned, heh:

Well, my super fantastic news of this week is that I got 100% on my Geography essay. It was about Superfunds, which are toxic waste sites that have not been properly looked after and the toxins have been released usually into the ground water. Ever seen Sahara? If not, you really should... good show. Any ways, I did some research and found that the Duwamish river, which is in Georgetown and runs out into Elliot Bay right by Harbor Island, is a huge Superfund. So, the moral of the story is this, never ever live in Georgetown, because a lot of the factories and plants in the area still have problems with toxin spills. In fact animals in the area get cancer a ton because of these spills, and the fish and crabs found in the Duwamish are super full of PCBs which are cancer causing. Now you can't say I didn't warn you. And for those of you who are still lost, Georgetown is in South West, Seattle, just a few miles from the house I lived in when I first moved up there. Just under the West Seattle Bridge. Yup yup! 100%!! I was super excited. :) Yay me!

OOh, and now I'd like to feature the pet of the week:

Warwick!

look how dang cute he is. He's a scaredy cat. Runs from everyone and hides in my Aunt's closet whenever people come over. But he's just so cute! He likes to snuggle when you're in bed... but be ware... when you start petting him he drools like nobody's business... it's like a river running off the bed and forming a small lake on the floor. Isn't he just a cutie??:

Well folks. Go tell someone you love them... or if you haven't been told by someone they love you then call me up and I'll help you out. And wear something red too, that's always festive and fun. And wish me luck, as it starts to snow harder the chance of me actually leaving the house in my cute dress and hair is really quite slim. In fact some might say zero.

Romping, to romp, I had romped.

Welp, they're here, the big day arrived, it came and went, I got a new pair of glasses. And while they might not look too fantastic on my face, they are fantastic glasses, so we're gonna pretend they look really good for awhile, and then maybe I'll find a new pair! Really what this comes down to is, it all reminds me of an ABBA song: "you can change your mind, something er other, and then in the background, can change, can change" really, I have no idea why that applies, but trust me, it definitely does. Also, I think the statement, "I, Jen Taylor, have the coolest glasses frames in all of the big UT, besides the one kid in American Civilization." is quite true, and maybe even applies a little more than the afore mentioned song shout out.

Bust! is a must!
I got a new magazine today in the mail, the first of my wonderful new subscription, all thanks to the coolest Lanne there ever was. I was probably more excited for the magazine than for the fact that I'd just put my new glasses on for the first time with lenses actually in them. I started reading, and wow, did I get super happy! It's a women's magazine, but one that's more crafty and down to earth than the usual women magazine junk. Complete with a pair of lightning bolt pumps (vegan ones at that!) on page 34, and whole slew of cute undapants on page 33, I was super glad to have a little piece of the urban life in my hands.

Valentine's Day prep...
Did you know that Valentine's day is ever so soon?! I totally forgot until I got my first Valentine in the mail (thanks Topher, I loooved it). Did you also know that I love Valentine's day? Why you didn't know that?! Odd...  I know what you're thinking... why love Val's day when you don't have a man? Well, I'll tell you why! Silly! Because I get to sit and make Valentine's for all you and tell you just how much I love you! Then I get to go and get heart stamps! And then I get to send off a goodly number of envelopes... and that always makes me happy. Then as you all check the mail... you'll get an envelope full of wonderful homemade Jen-ness... and that's really seriously quite priceless. And I'm going to ask one one of you to be my Valentine. Nope, I'm not telling who! But I'm excited... as soon as I am done here, I'm off to me room to start cutting and taping and stamping and kissing and all that super fun Valentine makin stuff.

Romping:
As I attempted to take a 20 minute nap this after noon, I was awoken by Uncle's singing skida-ma-rink and cousin's coming home from school. Super rude, nah, just kidding... :) So I got up and found myself in a stand off with the wonderful dog Sam-Wise. He chased me into the living room, where I found myself rolling around on the ground with him in an attempt to get his toy... after much rolling, tackling, scratching, and chases covering the entire top floor of the house, he and I called it quits seeing as we, both covered in hair and panting, seemed to be out of energy. Moral of the story: I love romping with the Sam-Wise, and he and I shall romp more often!

And they're still living happily ever after.

Stuperbowl Sunday...

Hey there blog fans near and far! Are you telling your friends about my blog? Are you elbowing people on the bus? Knocking over bikers as they pass? Making blog conversation while selling shoes? Telling everyone to check out what I have to say?! Well, I hope you're not, because that's way too much pressure, and my life's not all that exciting after all! My family and myself are all gathered in the lovely living room watching the big football game, only I don't really care that much, so I figured I'd take this time to catch up on blogging, do some reading, and purchase a few plane tickets. Wait-- what- back that bus up! Plane tickets??

Yup, I'm flying to Seattle on the 18th of March and I'll be flying back to the big UT on Sunday March 22nd. Which means I'll be in Seattle for my 22nd birthday. So, if you live in Seattle, and we're friends, come to a big birthday dinner on March 19th. It'll be at some restaurant in Ballard I'm sure. Maybe sushi? Maybe something a little more casual... people's pub? Hmm... who knows. But March 19th, no presents necessary but are always welcomed, come to dinner! We'll laugh a lot, and have a lot of fun, and I can hear about how all your lives are going post my move. :) I'm terribly excited. Family though, we'll have to have a birthday dinner for me and Ram another night, we can laugh and enjoy family jokes and all that fun stuff... presents are required at that dinner. Hah. and I'm not even kidding.

Well, I've bought 2 new glasses frames off of ebay. They're both vintage frames, I like one more than the other, but if the one doesn't work then I'll go to the other. Looking for a pair of vintage frames? You can have the pair I don't end up with. But they're a lot alike so you have to live in a different place than me, and you have to pass my 'is your style the right style to rock these frames' test. It's grueling. They should get here later this week, then I'll get some lenses in them, and I'll post a picture of them soon after that, all glorious and on my face, and you'll all say... "wow, those are cute frames... that Jen knows how to pick em!" Frames that is, I'm not picking noses or anything, well a lot of noses.

I lost a few necklaces and rings when I moved from Seattle down to the big UT, and it's been really hard for me, we all know I love my jewelery a lot a lot. But thanks to a wonderfully etsy savvy friend o mine, I found almost the exact same wing necklace and purchased it straight away! Yay! I get my wings/mustache back!! I'm really excited. I'll wear it every day for a week, well not like straight, but I'll wear it 7 times and then it'll be like a week straight, come on I'm not going to wear the same necklace for a whole week. The other necklaces would feel bad! I'm glad she had another one on etsy. If you don't know etsy, go there, shop, be happy! etsy.com You'll love it!! Fosh!

I got my first math test back, and guess what?! I got 100%. Yup, for the first time ever, I got 100 on a math test. I was so excited!! I actually wasn't that excited at first, I kinda figured everyone would get 100, it was pretty easy, (those of you who know specifics keep em quiet, I like to pretend like I'm smart) and then I realized as people compared scored that I really was the only person to get 100! Well, one of the few that is. :) Yay for me! I cut off the questions on the test so none of you would know just how easy, or hard, it really was... hehe.

OOh, I finished my painting, my first big ol real time on a canvas painting. It's not much. I pasted pictures and articles from old car magazines and then painted over them. It says charge on it. Also has my cigar birds all accross it. Thanks to Autumn for figure out that they look like cigar birds. I usually hate my paintings, well most of my own art work, that's for sure, but I really like this, so I'm going to share it with you... :) I hope you enjoy it too!
AND THEN, if I wasn't happy enough, the mail came yesterday and as I eagerly looked through it for any letters or magazines for me I found an Anthropologie catalogue and said, "are you kidding me!?!?! Anthropologie!?!?!" and my uncle said, "I would not kid about something that serious." Oh man dear uncle, you have no idea how serious this catalogue is! It makes my heart happy... oooh do I love picturing frolicking through many a happy field in those beautiful dresses and sweaters, and then I fell in love with the $5000 couch in the back... and I was a happy woman, it was like being in Seattle! Only I didn't have Sarah to look through the catalogue with! Now all I need is the J Crew catalogue.. oooh, talk about sweaters! And Melanie to look through that with me.

Well, it's been such a fantastic week. I love being in the big UT, I love being with my family, and I love being back in school! I miss all you folks I'm not around. I miss the shoe store like mad! I was looking at Fluevog online today, and my heart was sad, they have really cute malibrans that are flat! Plus their olive green malibrans are out! I was dying... my aunt suggested getting look alike shoes at payless! I almost had a heart attack, fortunately she was mostly kidding, yes mostly. I wish I could be up there seeing all the spring shoes come in. New Pikolinos! New Hispanita! Fluevog! oooh I could go on but now I'm just getting depressed. Any ways, things are going really well. I'm happy. And soon I'll meet with an academic advisor and figure out just how much longer I have left in school, then the count down will begin! For now, good bye yo!!

Oh and a list of words and sayings I've taken from other people and now cannot seem to stop saying:
-fosh
-I know, right?
-ninja
-ayuuup
-yo
-tender

oh there's more, but I seem to not be able to think of them now that I sit here trying to compile a list. Oh well!
